Field curvature correction
The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR lens can ensure minimal curve distortion even at the very short focal length of 8 to 16mm. There is a correction mechanism to correct the field curvature according to the zoom position.
Lens infused with aspherical and ED element technologies
Although the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR is compact, inside there are an incredible 20 elements in 13 groups that ensure perfect image capture in all situations. There are 4 aspherical lenses to correct distortion and spherical aberrations, while 6 ED elements (including 3 Super ED) effectively suppress chromatic aberrations. The back surface of the 2 front elements is treated with a Nano-GI coating to prevent ghosting or reflections caused by oblique incident light.
Advanced surface treatments to minimize flare and increase lens durability
The Super EBC coating and Nano-GI layer applied to the back surface of the two front optical elements changes the refractive index between the glass and air, helping to minimize glare and light veils. Fast and silent autofocus with improved linear motor and dust and moisture resistance
The XF 8-16's optics are complemented by better linear motors compared to the stepper motors in the 10-24mm, which means AF will be faster and quieter (important for focusing in low-light areas). The lens is capable of focusing from as close as 25 centimetres, so it achieves a maximum magnification of just 0.1×. The lens barrel is sealed in 11 different places to ensure it can work in harsh environments and is protected from dust and moisture.
