Fast and silent autofocus with improved contrast and colour fidelity

Shooting with the lens becomes instinctive thanks to the quiet, precise and sensitive autofocus. Lightweight focusing elements snap precisely into place with a high-precision stepper motor that reliably focuses and keeps even moving subjects in focus. The Super EBC coating was applied to individual elements to eliminate unwanted glare and achieve better contrast and colour fidelity when working in strong backlight.

Advanced optical design for exceptional image quality

The optical system consists of 14 elements in 10 groups in combination with a 7-blade aperture. The design uses a range of ultra-low dispersion and aspherical elements to correct both chromatic and spherical aberration (4 ED elements and 4 aspherical). To minimize the "focus breathing" effect, the focusing lens inside the XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR was placed close to the image sensor, outside the aperture, and paired with an aspherical ED lens. The result is uniform image quality from the minimum focus distance to infinity.
