The line interactive UPS also adds data line surge suppression to prevent damage from electrical surges from the grid.

A key parameter is the battery run time. This is governed by the energy consumption – for example, at half-load (50%), the run time can last up to three times as long. The load of the backup source determines the operating time, which at full load (100%) is 1 min and at half-load, it's 4 min. It is therefore crucial to calculate the energy consumption of the connected appliances and it is best to have a bit of energy extra left. The FSP UPS ST 850 measures the apparent power as 850, but with realistic use, the actual power usage is 510 W.
