I’m comparing it with my previous phone, the Samsung S22 Ultra. In terms of design, I do prefer the Samsung, but on the other hand, its sharp edges tear my pockets, so from a practical point of view, Xiaomi comes out on top. As far as performance is concerned, the 17T Pro is clearly ahead of Samsung here; however, for my needs – which are mostly work-related apps – the difference is negligible. The situation is probably different in games, but I’m not really in a position to judge that. The display is on a par with Samsung’s. However, where Xiaomi really excels is in battery life. I’d seen ‘two days’ mentioned in the reviews, but I didn’t really believe it. Most of the phones I’ve had needed recharging on the first day. By the end of the evening, the battery was at 35%, even though the screen had been on for most of the day and I’d been using the phone. I haven’t noticed the increased heat build-up described in the reviews so far (again, I’m comparing it with the Samsung under the same conditions of use). I was a bit worried about switching to a different brand and, as a result, changing my whole environment, but it turned out not to be a problem.
