I bought this grill because it has automatic food preparation programs, it doesn't need a temperature probe to do this, but it does measure the thickness of the meat when closed. I mostly use the grill for steaks - I put it in, the grill measures the thickness of the meat, starts a countdown and I know exactly when I'm going to have a super medium-rare steak, just the way I like it. it always works out beautifully. I also tried chicken, hamburgers (even frozen - just switch the frozen food option and the grill adjusts and the result is also ideal). Of course, the various bagels, toast, it handles it all. The only thing I haven't tried is salmon. The plates can be easily wiped, in case of more dirt I put them in the dishwasher.
