After the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO, V-MODA CROSSFADE M-100, Koss Porta Pro(both wired and BT version), m-audio(Ultimate Ears) IE-20XB dual driver, as a fan of higher quality bass I reached for the Sony WH-1000XM4 even though I knew that the supposedly older version of the XM3 had a more pronounced bass performance. I needed a Bluetooth multipoint (to listen to a movie and at the same time to receive a call) so I had to go to XM4 and I don't regret it. Subjectively I expected more from ANC but probably this technology is not yet at such a high level in general but supposedly Sony is the best at it. I mind the permanent dimming when the ANC is switched on. The workmanship is high quality, the hearing aids can be folded. Both wired and wireless listening is possible. The endurance is excellent. The reproduction is of high quality and there is a great possibility to adjust the sound even for a Basshead like me, and I don't have to use my hardware equalizer or pro amplifier to get thick accurate bass (not empty dull impulses) from my headphones. The sound source is very important. Touch control is excellent. LDAC codec is excellent, AAC is friendly, SBC is a bore. Apt-X would be the point to a near perfect recess. LDAC cannot be used at the same time if you have BT multipoint enabled. XM4 already has the option to use EQ with LDAC. Speak to chat is a step in the right direction but it is not yet the right thing to do. Except Koss Porta Pro(for sport) the first hearing aids where I am almost completely satisfied. Along with Klipsch and Magnat speakers I finally have hearing aids that will play what they have without additional hardware.
