These particular Siguro knives are sharp, so far they look pretty tough. They are very well made, sturdy, have a reasonable weight (so you know they hold something, but again they don't hurt your hand) and balance. The ergonomics of the handle meets our requirements - so that when holding it, one's hand does not hit the table top (if the handle is too big) and there is no protrusion between the handle and the blade that prevents horizontal slicing. The knife rack has holes in the bottom so it ventilates and hopefully won't get too moldy. At the same time, the stand is space-saving and includes a sharpener that is easy to use (we've only tried it on older knives so far and it worked better than the Fiskars knife sharpener). We have a complaint about the pastry knife. Apart from being (unnecessarily from our point of view) right-handed, he tears the pastry rather than cutting it. This is because the teeth are too deep and large. For bread you can use a normal knife thanks to the sharpness of the blades, the one that is there is for extra crispy baguette, but it has rather destructive effects. The IKEA pastry knife is better in every way than the one that's there. Maybe we just don't know how to use it - if that's the case, I'd like someone to explain it to me: D. Some bladephile may turn up his nose at knives, but if the knives are for slicing and not for display, I think these are really great, even at this price. But of course we don't have them for home cooking, we're not pros.
