Simply Casio G-SHOCK, indestructible beauties with an unbeatable price-quality ratio (and I say this as a fan of automatics even with a much higher price tag)
Completely maintenance free - never need adjusting, never need charging, never need changing the battery.
Switches to power saving mode on snooze
As suitable for sports or any other outdoor activity as for hard work
Smaller, understated model, can be worn with a shirt in a casual to semi-formal work environment
They're G-Shocks, what kind of negatives do you expect? ) The size may be a minus for some, compared to other G-Shocks they are really tiny, but for me it is a plus. But I recommend you try them somewhere so you are not caught off guard.
A great watch, except for one small thing, unfortunately significant, it would finally be one that meets all my requirements and wishes.
Signal control, solar charging, clear display, large numbers, stopwatch, timer, possibility to transfer mm-dd and dd-mm. The size is an ideal compromise for narrower wrists and at the same time with a sufficiently large and legible display with a decent backlight (of course, within the scope of long-lasting digital devices).
If you' re tired of smartwatches that aren' t so smart after all and have to be charged and monitored all the time, and if you like the design of the G-Shock, want an iconic and iconic digital watch, you' re fine with the other features, but you can do without the acoustics (see below ), they are not better for the price.
Some people are bothered by the " drowned" button " A" (top left), and for someone used to other Casio watches, the " inverted" control (Mode, etc. ) may be an obstacle. ) I have been used to this layout for over 30 years (e. g. movement 3294) and it took me a lot of work to find a replacement for the original Casio from the turn of the 80s/90s. years that had it just like this.
For some, maybe a harder press of the buttons, on the other hand, I' m glad that I don' t press them by mistake when bending my wrist like with other models.
When setting the 24h format, the first position is narrower, so from 20:00 to midnight, the first digit 2 is distorted and narrower than the following ones. But that' s just an aesthetic detail, someone might not even notice it.
I deliberately do not include an alarm in the list of functions. Although there are 5 of them, the date can also be set, but no beeping can be heard. At first I thought that the watch was somehow muffled, but on the third try it became clear that the sound is so quiet that it can only be heard in absolute silence. Even if I didn' t use the alarm, for example, I wouldn' t hear the end of the countdown either. Unfortunately, the watch went back the same day for that reason. I find them even quieter than the G-Shock B2100, and I also gave up on the alarm in those. Casio offers watches, but with completely different equipment and purpose. If someone really wants to use an alarm clock and timer and can do without solar charging, signal control, better waterproofing and design, there is the B640 or W202, which are reasonably loud (of course, within limits, don' t expect the volume of a phone or a classic desk alarm clock). If you can do without a timer, then other models for a few hundred will do.
There are complaints about the stiff plastic strap. There are, of course, possible alternatives, but this strap probably best matches the watch' s style and durability. However, I have a problem with all Casio with fixed holes, one is a bit looser and the other one is already too tight. It just needs something in between, the pitch is small enough that another hole won' t fit. Everyone' s hand is different, so many people seem to find their ideal wrist position.
