The disk cooling pad can be aligned by lightly smoothing it with your fingers so that it at least partially touches the disk and the aluminum body of the bezel, while allowing these components to move together during installation. It just takes dexterous fingers and a bit of feeling and patience during installation. There are better designed M.2 drive enclosures, but this requires the use of tools and even so, it is important to remember that M.2 drives will always have a range of thicknesses and you will probably never be able to find a design that allows perfect heat dissipation. The biggest complaint is the included USB cable. It is quite short and stiff. If you connect the disk to the connector at the level of the pad on which the disk is lying, everything is fine. The moment you need to connect a drive to a desktop PC you find that you are dislodging the connector in the drive or in the computer, leading to occasional loss of connection and risk of damage to the connectors. Especially when using the USB-A to USB-C adapter, which is an integral part of the cable and sometimes gets in the way when using USB-C. If you choose to use the drive with a cable other than the one provided, beware of the quality of the cable - there may be a noticeable drop in transfer speed.
