🟢 Pros: Nice picture - very good contrast for a VA panel, clean colours, no fading like cheap IPS. Pleasant colour tuning - a cooler, cleaner image that appeals mainly to casual users. 144Hz at 2K - smooth, no jerky images, ideal for casual gaming and work. No significant panel defects - no spots, no maps, even backlighting. Good price - surprisingly decent monitor for the money. Quiet operation - no whistling, no disturbing noises. The nice curvature is one of the few really nice design features on the G55C, so it's fair to list that among the pros. 🔴 Cons: The stand is practically unusable extremely low no height adjustment only tilt forward/backward, bad VESA mounting is drowned inside the normal brackets do not fit I had to adapt the bracket (see photo) unnecessarily complicated mounting. The back side is a dust collector deep indentation circular cutout hard to clean. OSD menu has no English only a few world languages. Samsung ignoring localization makes it look cheaper than it has to. The service USB is useless even 5 V, for example to charge you can't update anything through it it's not a USB for the user just a "hole" for service. HDR is just marketing, an HDR image looks exactly the same as an SDR panel it has no brightness and local dimming HDR has no effect. Only basic connector equipment 1× HDMI 1× DisplayPort 1× 3.5mm jack And that's the end of it. 🟢Summary:
The Samsung G55C has a nice picture and good contrast for its price, which is the main reason why someone will buy it.
But structurally, it's a compromise: stand is bad, VESA is drowned, back side catches dust - looks nice just like new. OSD is not in English. HDR is only on paper. If you want the monitor mainly for the picture and plan to put it on its own mount, this is a good choice. Then I recommend it for the price.
If you want quality workmanship and better ergonomics, there are better alternatives.
My piece came in defective: backlight bleed around the edges, uneven backlighting especially in dark scenes, a few dead pixels and flickering with FreeSync on - I'm addicted to the monitor and didn't manage to return it so now I have to put up with it
Satisfying brightness and contrast
Pleasantly rounded display
Excellent viewing angles
Very nice colours on the VA panel (need to play a bit with presets etc. ) - I wouldn't do graphics on it but games and movies look great on it
165Hz, low response
DP, HDMI, VESA
Decent built-in software with good features
HDR
LED is unnecessarily bright and flickers, slightly illuminates the room in which the monitor stands
Design - it tries to look like the more expensive Odyssey monitors, hence the shape and speaker cutouts, which are empty. I think they could have done with a more minimalist monitor.
