Sensor Size 1/1.55"

The 1/1.55" sensor size indicates the physical dimensions of the chip inside the camera, which is responsible for capturing light and converting it into a digital image. This specification is not a direct measurement of the diagonal in inches, as it might seem. It is a historical marking system where the size refers to the outer diameter of old television camera tubes. For practical comparison, the smaller the number in the denominator of the fraction, the larger the sensor. Thus, a 1/1.55" sensor is larger than, for example, a 1/2.55" sensor. A larger sensor area allows for capturing more light, which leads to higher quality photos, especially in poorer lighting conditions, such as low light or indoor shooting. Larger sensors also produce less digital noise, which is an undesirable graininess in the image. They also make it easier to achieve a shallow depth of field, meaning an effect where the main subject is sharp and the background is blurred.
