In-Sensor Stabilization (IBIS)

In-sensor stabilization, also known as In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), is a technology within the camera body that serves to suppress image blur caused by photographer's hand shake. The system uses gyroscopic sensors to detect movement and subsequently, with the help of small motors, shifts the image sensor in the opposite direction to the camera's movement. In this way, the image is "stabilized" directly on the sensor before it is recorded. The main advantage is that this stabilization works with any attached lens, including older models that do not have their own stabilization. This feature is useful not only for handheld photography with longer shutter speeds, for example in poorer lighting conditions, but also for recording smoother videos. Some cameras allow combining in-sensor stabilization with lens stabilization, which leads to an even more effective result.
