Decorative Stitch

A decorative stitch is a type of stitch primarily used not for joining fabrics, but for embellishing them. Sewing machines, especially electronic ones, offer a wide range of pre-set decorative patterns, such as waves, arcs, geometric shapes, or simplified floral motifs. The user simply selects the desired pattern on the machine's display or dial, and it is automatically sewn. These stitches are used for decorating hems, cuffs, collars, or for creating decorative lines on garments and home textiles. Even some overlock machines allow for the creation of decorative stitches, for example, by using special threads in the loopers or by setting specific stitches like the "wave" stitch, which can effectively finish and simultaneously embellish fabric edges.
