I'm slowly replacing the original X year old Airport, absolutely phenomenal, so the comparison is rough - at the same time I like Tapo, Deco, Tp-Link stuff, so I'm more lenient about things. In this context, it might be worth saying that if you have iOS or Android, the initial setup in the same app behaves differently. For example, updating the station went well on my Pixel, but replacing the main station on the iPhone, so I write mainly patience.
