We bought the grinder primarily for grinding espresso. Alza has high praise for the delivery. I placed the order on Friday around 11pm and pulled the grinder out of the box on Saturday morning before breakfast. The extra packaging is largely paper - great. I've used the grinder as a "single dose" - only a weighed amount of beans ever go into the grinder and the expectation is that the same amount will come out ground. Unfortunately, even after more than a month of use, when the stones should be set, the grinder shows a huge retention of ground grains, normally in the range of 2 - 5g (! ). The attached bellows arrived so bent that even after a bath in hot water it did not straighten and seal. Moreover, due to the volume of the grain container, its stroke is too small to effectively blow the residue of ground grains out of the mill. I bought an aftermarket bellows that seals and has more lift, but even so, getting all the ground coffee out of the grinder is a very frustrating process. Suppose you solve the problem described above by pouring more beans into the grinder (pretty stupid, given the price of choice coffee). But what makes this grinder unusable for espresso is the inconsistency of grind coarseness. Even though I weighed several batches of beans with exactly one coarseness setting, I noticed different extraction pressures and thus extraction times and thus huge, unpredictable differences in taste (from sour to bitter). I note that I use a calibrated, perpendicular tamper and break up the lumps for optimal distribution in the lever. The only variable that can cause this is the coarseness of the grind. Another thing that disappointed me is the inability to buy a set of replacement stones. I realize it's a cheap grinder, but why would I buy a whole new machine just when I need to replace the stones? It may be possible, but Alza still hasn't responded to my inquiry. Thank you. If you want a cheap grinder for grinding larger batches in a hopper for say a filter, french press, etc, I probably wouldn't worry about it. Unfortunately, definitely not for espresso.

SIGURO is an example of how to destroy the functionality of a product with two digits in the program code. EXACTLY TWO DIGITS IN THE PROGRAM CODE!. The head doesn't take. It's like someone at the manufacturer deliberately sabotaged it during the design process.
