It' s a server drive, so I thought it would be noisier. There are reviews where it is written that it is quieter than the previous generation and that the noise is not so bad. Zial is not true. Due to the noise, the disk is unsuitable for operation in an apartment (our home), it is really extremely noisy (seek and deep hum).
price/capacity
for inactivity the noise is ok
the loudest disc I' ve ever had, you can hear it even in the other room when you close the door
nas is turned off because of the noise and I turn it on just at that moment when I need something. putting the disk to sleep doesn' t help, it turns it on even when I' m not accessing it, and the startup sound is really unbearable

The drive looks fine, initialized fine, vibration is minimal, noise is a little higher, but it's quite possible that it's due to the technology and the speed of the revolutions. The write speed reaches a constant maximum. The drive can climb to 45c at constant write (a "normal" drive is at 30c under similar load) in a well-ventilated computer case. However, I do not recommend putting it in an area where writing and reading will be required and airflow will be minimal. What pleased me less is the fact that when I checked the serial number on the Seagate it turned out that the drive is OEM. I.e. in translation it is gutted from the finished solution, server, desktop etc. and so it is not possible to request service directly from Seagate or to verify the warranty with them. Here is the text from the site: This product was originally sold as a part of a larger system. Please contact the system manufacturer or your place of purchase for warranty support. It's not really a problem, but you have to rely 100% on Alza. Not to mention that I have mixed feelings about it since the disc was bought separately.

It's hotter, but that's because of the technology, still bearable

I thought I would store the NAS in a soundproof box in a room where several other HDDs are running. However, this disc easily overcomes all soundproofing and its "banging" can be heard throughout the apartment. It's as if the reading heads inside are bumping full force into something. The discs are right next to the fan and show 20C higher temperature than the ambient temperature. Unlike the others I have which in the same place have only 10-15C higher temperature compared to the surroundings.

It worked for a month, but after a month it started freezing, blocking the whole system, or blocking the computer so that until the disk is disconnected, the system won't boot at all. Disk diagnostics show faulty sectors with an increasing trend. Disk reclaimed. claim accepted.

I'm thrilled. Until now, I have been using Barracuda CMR on my mini NAS. This is a very different level. Read speed 240 MB/sec (compared to 180 MB/sec for conventional drives). I don't find it extra noisy as others here write. On the contrary. I hope nothing goes wrong. I only buy Exos from now on.
