I have NAVITEL RS990 for almost a year and a few days 70mai M800. I did a comparison and which is better? With NAVITEL, among other things, I complained about too sharp image, here it is much worse. But sometimes it makes details stand out more, but it also creates various artifacts in the video that the RS990 doesn't have. The rear cameras are just a number on both, but the one supplied with the M800 has much better video quality both day and night. For the 70mai, after examining the videos, I was able to make out more license plates, or overall the video had more detail. But the vehicle still has to be following you and the speed difference has to be very small to zero for the number plate to be readable. It's impossible to read license plates of cars in the opposite direction even in the city. At night, the license plates are practically not readable on any of the cameras while driving, but 70mai is still significantly better. For nighttime recording, the difference in quality, in favour of 70mai, is more pronounced than during the day. Which main camera shoots better? Here it is more complicated, because the quality is practically identical in the daytime. One is more detailed NAVITEL, one is 70mai. Even on the same shot, for example, the license plate is more legible on the 70mai, but the text on the vehicle is better on the NAVITEL or vice versa. At night I had a slightly better success rate with license plate readability on 70mai. But again, don't expect any miracles. When driving, kor on the motorway, the number plates are almost never readable and you really have to look for the frame when the number plate is readable and again sometimes the M800 won, sometimes the RS990. The video is made by software and here it depends a lot on what compression and processing of information from the sensor the manufacturer chooses. Conclusion? What to recommend? The 70mai actually has a wider angle of view and a slightly better image overall, the difference is more pronounced with the rear camera. But the RS990 GPS again allows the use of memory cards, which is a big advantage because the M800 only has 128GB of memory, I have a 512GB card in the RS990. So when you want to transfer videos to PC, with NAVITEL you just need to pull out the card, with 70mai you have to take the whole camera, which is a matter of 2 seconds. I had faster copying from the card, the 70mai was copying data at around 20MB/s. Neither camera can be powered via the USB-C output. You have to use a classic USB, both in the car and on the PC. NAVITEL is a much larger camera, 70mai, as it has no display, so it is narrow and hides nicely behind the mirror in modern cars with a camera in the mirror. The NAVITEL would already be obstructing the view, so you have to place it sort of off to the side so the police can't say anything. I've had a lot of nerves with NAVITEL when the camera has jammed or kept. she restarted. Most of the time it worked OK, but when connected to a power bank (for video recording, for example in a shopping mall parking lot, during trips, etc.) these problems often occurred. Maybe the camera didn't get along with the power bank and it didn't supply enough power. I can't say for sure what was wrong, because sometimes it worked perfectly fine for a few hours, sometimes the camera got stuck and didn't record anything at all. That's why I bought the M800. But I expected a bigger difference in quality. So which one to buy? If you only want to power the camera with the supplied adapter, go to NAVITEL. Even though it's 3,000 cheaper. Do you want to use a power bank? Try the NAVITEL and see. Will there be problems? So you can go back and buy an M800. Won't they? So you won. You've saved a couple of thousand and the difference in image quality is not worth the extra money, because with the main cameras it's really minimal and it's all about looking through a "magnifying glass". Don't care about the price difference and don't need a recording longer than about 7 hours? Go to 70mai. I was originally going to claim NAVITEL, but in the end I'm going to do it in such a way that the RS990 will go on the rear window and I'll continue to monitor its behavior and then either it will go to claim or it will stay in the car on the rear window, the M800 will monitor the front and their rear cameras will be mounted on the side windows (wagon) and they will monitor the sides as well. Finally, you don't even need to try any resolution mode other than native 4K. The quality in lower resolution is very poor for both cameras. Even 60fps mode doesn't help.
Video quality day and night
Sensor
Size - the camera is really small
Voice control (English only, I couldn't get it to work at all with NAVITEL)
Camera slides out of the side mount - can be placed right under the plastic of the rear view mirror. NAVITEL extends upwards, so it has limited placement options
3000 more expensive than NAVITEL RS990
During the day, the quality is only slightly better than NAVITEL
Occasionally NAVITEL has provided more details, see text
Price
Cannot use memory cards, so you will have to throw the camera away if the internal storage fails
Fewer settings compared to RS990
Both cameras get very hot, but so far it hasn't been a problem with either.
Car cameras don't have this, but I miss the ability to set the shortest shutter speed and maximum ISO. Maybe a 1/500s time, which would compensate a bit for the blurry license plate at night even though the video would be very underexposed. The RS990 at least has Exposure compensation in the app.
