Briefly: the monitor is absolutely fine and meets all expectations. I've been picking for a long time what to get for a Macbook around 220 PPI and the only meaningful combination that's even being made is a 27" 5K and there are only a few of those models, including the Apple Studio Display. I don't understand what the claim is in other reviews that the current rating is at 3 stars. This monitor is less than half of what the Studio Display costs, yet it seems to me that people think they bought a Studio Display and rate it that way. The matte layer on the surface is perfectly fine and works like on any other matte monitor, maybe even better, I don't notice any discoloration. Colours overall great. Backlighting ok, it's an IPS panel. Connectors downwards super, when mounted on VESA it goes to put it closer to the wall. Power Delivery super, USB hub supr thing. The buttons are the same color as the panel, they don't interfere, I don't see what the problem is. I haven't even tried the speakers, I know from reviews that they are supposed to be crappy, so I don't even count on them, I ignore them. It's not a priority for me to have an audio system in the monitor. Otherwise if you want Mac integration don't even install their ASUS app, the monitor supports DDC/CI and BetterDisplay is better. The only negative is that my monitor occasionally (once a week or so) randomly goes black for about 3 seconds, it's a known issue addressed on the Mac forums, supposedly the solution is a better cable, but it hasn't bothered me enough to address it yet. USBC and HDMI cables were included.

Most of my day is spent reading and this monitor makes reading a pleasure. Before this monitor I used a 110 PPI Dell and yeah, chalk and cheese in text and image quality. How I look at it, I spend 8 - 10 hours a day looking at a screen, so over ten years that's about €74 a year for visual pleasure. It's a no-brainer.
Reading razor sharp text and images are a pleasure worth the price.
Everything looks so vibrant.
Solid stand.
Seamless connection to ThunderBolt 4 port on my M4 Mac Mini.
Perfect Mac scaling.
Once you have used 220 PPI resolution, you can never go back to anything less.
Easy access to controls on the front of the bezel.
Value for money.
The anti-reflective coating is very easily smudged. But it doesn't affect the image quality, only noticeable when the screen is off.
