It is very similar to the Xiaomi Pad 5, which I bought before Christmas 2022 for my daughter at a time when there was a shortage, so there was a higher price (over 12000), so today the Pad 6 at a price of around 10000 with more memory I take all ten. I will describe the differences that can help you decide whether Pad 6 or just Pad 5, because Pad 6 is just a slight evolution of Pad 5. The first number always belongs to Pad 6: Which is the same on the Pad 6 and the Pad 5:
- both have an 11" IPS display,
- both support the Xiaomi stylus (the new version of the stylus is supposedly better, but I don't know, I don't have it yet),
- both have Corning Gorilla Glass 3, aluminum frame and back,
- both support Android 13,
- both have a USB-C connector - for charging, and connecting to a PC (but only the Pad 6 supports HDMI),
- both support 33W charging (but only a 22.5W charger came with the Pad 5 - except in China, where it was 33W, and the Pad 6 has a 33W charger here too),
- both have a 13M rear camera and 8M front camera - but have different lenses see below,
- both have 4 speakers for stereo sound,
- both have no SD card slot,
- both do not support SIM cards,
- both don't have GPS,
- both don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack (but do have a USB-C to 3.5mm jack reduction). What's better in Pad 6 vs Pad 5:
- Memory is 8GB, vs 6GB, storage is 256GB, vs 128GB (but there is also a 6GB/128GB version of the Pad 6 that is about 1000, - cheaper),
- the processor is a little faster: Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 vs 860, graphics chip too: Adreno 650 vs 640,
- the AnTuTu (v10beta) benchmark score is 799174 vs 733156, just +9%. CPU: 225930 vs 194110, the GPU score is lower, probably because the Pad 6 was running the 3D-Standard test, and the Pad 5 was running 3D-Lite (the others couldn't run there): 213884 vs 257348, MEM: 152078 vs. 112935, UX: 207282 vs. 168763.
- is a bit thinner - 6.5 mm vs 6.85 mm and is also a bit lighter: 490 g vs 511 g,
- has a little more resolution: 1800x2880 (~309 ppi) vs 1600x2560 (~274 ppi),
- the display supports a higher frequency: 144 Hz vs 120 Hz is a bit brighter: 550 nits vs 500 nits,
- USB-C is version 3.2, so e.g. there are faster transfers to external storage, and it also supports HDMI output to the TV, the Pad 5 only had USB 2.0, and didn't support HDMI (there it could only use something like Chromecast),
- the battery is a little bit bigger: 8840 mAh vs 8720 mAh,
- supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, Pad 5 only had max WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. What's worse than Pad 5:
- has a slightly less luminous lens on paper: f/2.2 vs f/2.0, but practically I almost can't tell the difference between a photo from Pad 6 and Pad 5, I don't consider tablets as a reasonable device for taking photos, so I don't mind.
