Tested on Samsung A03 and A04 mobile phones. It worked with several USB flash drives and 2.5" HDDs without any problems.
I no longer need to copy movies to my phone - I can simply play them directly from the USB drive. No problem.
If you want to write to or copy from your phone/tablet to the connected USB storage medium, it must be formatted exFAT. Otherwise (for the more common NTFS formatting for large files) only read/restore is possible.
