After almost 27 years with a Philips shaver that worked all the way through with 3 sets of batteries + cutters I was looking for a new one, or rather waiting for one to come along at an interesting price. Leaving aside the various technological gizmos that a thing simply must have today to keep up with the times (specifically, I'm thinking of the colour display and bluetooth connectivity), the quality of shaving has, dare I say, advanced light years over the years. The shaver offers several shaving modes (normal, fine, thick beard, wet with foam), but I am completely satisfied with the basic one. It is absolutely incredible how smoothly and effortlessly he can shave. I find the function of the pressure or motion sensor interesting, where the machine indicates the correct pressure with a colored stripe and leads to circular movements for best results. I find the ability to pair with the app (it succeeded on its own only on the 3rd attempt) and the color display quite unnecessary. The display would have been sufficient to show the battery level and the selected mode, the app then shows the same as the colour bar, an overall summary of the quality and length of the shave and tips, or alerts you to change cutters. It's a pity that since we have the colour display on the machine, it doesn't have Czech. For me, it is also a pity that you can not charge wirelessly (another model can do that - but it can not charge by cable). However, even charging by cable doesn't allow you to charge and shave at the same time (like my original razor did) - for safety reasons. The machine can be used wet, for example in the shower, and so someone might still think of taking it into the bath, connected by cable to the charger. Charging is done with the supplied cable, terminated with a USB-A connector, so you can use a charger that is already at home. Although the review may sound slightly negative, the opposite is true - I am very satisfied and I did not expect such a great shave. Appendix: when choosing, I considered an even older generation (simple display, no connectivity, only wireless charging) and in the end I opted for the newer one, mainly because reviews say that each new generation shaves better (and because of the longer warranty and lower price). I do not have a direct intergenerational comparison, the manufacturer indicates SkinIQ and the newer SkinIQ Pro, but the result is absolutely fabulous.
