Small android tablet, so the ability to install apps
I like Kindle books better in the app than on the Kindle reader, but that's just my personal preference
Automatic display rotation, so you can easily switch between left and right hand grip
The battery life is decent, though of course it can't match simpler readers like the Kindle

only supported BOOX apps can be installed on android (note taking, answering machine, etc. ), it is definitely not suitable for anything other than reading books.
Purchased because there are more and more libraries not supporting Kindle and having their own Android apps.
shadows of text (images) from the previous page loaded remain on the display. This is not the case with kindle.
the response time of android 11 is significantly slower compared to android on mobile, and compared to kindle

The quality of the display is comparable to the Kindle paperwhite, the page turning speed is great.
Display backlight temperature can be adjusted
I find that the battery doesn't last as much as the Kindle, but it doesn't matter at all. This is probably because Android is used as the operating system.
The speaker does not reach the quality of mobile phones, but it is sufficient for audio books.

the endurance is really good, I had doubts, according to the test about 50h pure reading time with 50% backlight, 2 pages per minute
the display is beautifully sensitive
supported formats, I use it not only for reading but I also have various documentation in pdf

The Page is fast, it feels good in the hand, the page turn buttons work reliably and the battery life is fantastic, the best of all my readers (Kindle Paperwhite 4, Kindle Oasis 3, Kobo Libra 2, PocketBook InkPad 3 Pro). The display is beautifully legible, has minimal glare and is evenly lit.
As for the cons, unfortunately it lacks water resistance, so it's not for reading in light rain or in the bath. According to the specs, there is a speaker in the reader, but it's actually so quiet that it's not really suitable for listening to audiobooks (unless you sit in complete silence right next to the reader).
While Android means you can install many apps, it's more complicated to set them up to work really well, including page-rolling buttons. And because it's Android, errors and glitches are not unusual, I had to try to log into Google Play three times.
Last but not least, the automatic rotation of the image is not very good (when you want to put the reader in your other hand), it often reloads the whole application and takes a long time.
Overall though, it reads very well on the reader and I use it the most now. It's perfect especially in combination with the BookFusion app, where you can catalogue books (titles, authors, book covers, etc.) and read them on your mobile phone and reader (it syncs) or have books read to you. There is no need to send everything to the reader as in the case of Kindle and others, everything happens automatically.
If Onyx had added waterproofing, I'd give it a 9/10, this way I'd give it an 8/10.
