Upgrade from 10700KF. I didn't go to 285K because it requires DDR5, which I don't have. I have 128GB of DDR4, so I decided to upgrade my old PC to the "max" that DDR4 will allow. I didn't buy the 14900K for the reason that I plan to go to the LGA1954 platform and that will take about a year. I found the difference between 14900K and 14700K negligible and this one costs less for a very high quality cooling. I could also try AMD for that year, but AMD doesn't have media engines like Intel. Too bad that the 14th generation has only 20 PCI-lanes. (16x for GPU + 4x for NVMe SSD), but I'll stick it out for a year before switching to the Ultra 485K. I cool this mazel in a 3 chamber cabinet with NZTX KRAKEN PLUS 360 and I can't praise it enough. The temperatures are great, the performance is perfect, and the silence is Mac Studio-level.
